Part III: Lowcountry Plantations

You may remember that at the beginning of the summer we started our Lowcountry
Plantations series (Check out Part I and Part II) to assist you ladies in finding your perfect
wedding venue.  Well, today we're back with three more of our favorites that are capable of
hosting both your ceremony and reception on-site...

Honey Horn Plantation

Situated on the Jarvis Creek, Honey Horn Plantation is 68-acre property full of Lowcountry allure.  (Check out Jennifer + Rob's Honey Horn Plantation Wedding.  Isn't it gorgeous?) It has both indoor and outdoor locations for private events.  So if you're looking for a Hilton Head venue with a lot of Spanish moss, salt marsh and a beautiful sunset, I'd push Honey Horn Plantation to the top of your list.

Drayton Hall

If you're looking to incorporate the Old South into your wedding day, look no further than
Drayton Hall.  It was once used as a staging ground by both Colonial and British forces, has withstood numerous hurricanes (and even an earthquake!) and still stands in much the same way
it did in the 18th century.  Simply put, it's just fantastic.  The plantation home ranks as one of America's finest examples of Pre-Revolutionary War architecture and will provide a truly
stunningbackdrop for your Lowcountry Wedding.  Oh, and just wait til you see the inside.

The Pavilion at Pepper Plantation

The Pavilion at Pepper Plantation is a gorgeous venue just north of Charleston in Awendaw,
South Carollina.  The Pavilion itself can accommodate up to 300 guests but make sure you take
into consideration the season because it is not air conditioned.   With breathtaking views, a
spacious porch (4,000 square feet of outdoor covered space!) and a serene surrounding, the
Pavilion is the perfect space for a Lowcountry Affair.

Rehearsal Dinner: Peter + Nicole

The Cotton Dock at Boone Hall Plantation is easily one of my favorite venues in Charleston.
Nestled along the marsh of  the Wamponcheeone Creek, it provides the perfect Lowcountry
setting along with an always needed cool, salty breeze.

This past Winter, The Daniels were on hand to capture Peter + Nicole's gorgeous rustic rehearsal dinner.  Sabrina with Eventa Bella did an AH-mazing job with the decor.  I love the cozy, elegant vibe she was able to accomplish...and who doesn't love those twinkle lights?  Most couples don't enlist the talents of their photographers for their rehearsal dinner but I'm so glad Peter + Nicole did.  Not only did The Daniels take some killer detail shots but is that last image not perfection?  Love...

If that wasn't awesome enough, don't miss Peter + Nicole's Pepper Plantation Wedding tomorrow!

Part I: Wedding Weekend Venues

We've been getting a lot of questions recently from brides-to-be asking about local venues, not only for their ceremony and reception (check out last week's post on Lowcountry Plantations), but also for different properties that can accommodate your wedding weekend events (think bridal luncheons, rehearsal dinners, the post-wedding brunch and let's not forget showers and engagement parties).  So, to better assist our Lowcountry brides, we'll be posting weekly on different venues around town...

We're going to kick off this series by highlighting our friends over at Maverick Southern Kitchens who, in addition to the restaurants we'll highlight below, are the brains behind Charleston Cooks! and Slightly North of Broad, which is lovingly referred to as S..N.O.B. The team at Maverick's pairs high-end food with Lowcountry charm for a one-of-a-kind Charleston celebration.

Old Village Post House

Located just over the Cooper River Bridge, in the cozy Old Village of Mt. Pleasant, the Post House prides itself on being "As comfortable as your best friend's home."  Pair that feeling with flavorful food, a great cocktail and Southern hospitality and you're bound to have a memorable Lowcountry affair.

With two separate dining areas, ranging in capacity from 20-75, and a relaxing courtyard area, the Post House can accommodate any of your wedding weekend venue needs with style.

High Cotton

Maverick's second gem, High Cotton, is found in the heart of Charleston, off East Bay Street, and is known for its distinctive cuisine, impeccable decor and remarkable wine list.  Its ability to show guests what Charleston dining is all about doesn't hurt either.

With three stunning dining rooms ranging in capacity from 32-150, High Cotton is sure to provide your guests with a truly sophisticated Lowcountry experience.
